The obverse features the fourth portrait of the former British Queen Elizabeth II, while the reverse depicts an orange, fairy terns, albacore tuna, the figure of the sea god Tangaroa, a mortar and pestle from the island of Atiu, and the double-hulled canoe “Marumuru Atua” under the three constellations Pleiades, Taurus and Orion. The Marumuru Atua is used as a training vessel for traditional Polynesian navigation.
