“Melancholic Waltz” is a work by the Latvian composer Emils Darzins (1875-1910). Emils Darzins personifies the soul of Latvian classical music. After false accusations of plagiarism, Darzins destroyed all his symphony scores, and only the \u201cMelancolic Waltz\u201d miraculously escaped this fate. One day, sitting in the garden of the writer J\u0101nis Poruks at dusk, D\u0101rzins had a white, dream-like vision of the Mother of God, which became the impetus for the creation of \u201cThe Melancolic Waltz.\u201d The gentle, swaying melody becomes even more melancholy in the solo clarinet part.<\/p>\n
