Amerigo Vespucci was an <\/strong>Italian traveler and navigator (09.03.1454 – 22.02.1512). Sailing to the shores of Brazil and the West Indies in 1501-1502, he proved that these territories were not the eastern edge of Asia (as originally assumed from Columbus’s voyages), but a separate continent described as the New World.
