The coin commemorates the 100th anniversary of Croatian Radio and Television (HRT), the country’s oldest national broadcaster. The history of Croatian radio began in 1926 with the first regular broadcasts of Radio Zagreb, later joined by television, which became an important part of country’s cultural and social life. The obverse of the coin features a modern, minimalist design. The central portion bears the inscription “100 GODINA HRVATSKE RADIOTELEVIZIJE” (“100 Years of Croatian Radio and Television”). The background is formed by repeating wave-like lines, symbolizing radio waves, the television signal, and the continuity of broadcasting for an entire century.
