The coin is part of the renowned “Way to Valhalla” collection, dedicated to legendary warriors and figures from Nordic mythology and history. Issued on behalf of the Republic of Cameroon, this series has earned high praise among collectors for its historical atmosphere and incredible detailing. This issue pays tribute to Lagertha, a courageous shield-bearer and the first wife of the famous Viking Ragnar Lothbrok. In Norse epic literature, she became a true symbol of feminine strength and fearlessness: Lagertha was renowned for her incredible bravery in battle and her ability to lead armies alongside men.

The coin’s design is created using ultra-high relief technology and an Antique Finish , lending volume and a noble antique effect to the details. The obverse depicts Lagertha herself, sword in hand and shield raised, against the backdrop of a Viking army ready for battle. High-quality digital printing adds special emphasis: vibrant red accents and battle paint on her face and shield emphasize the ferocity of the battle. The reverse depicts a Viking on horseback, surrounded by Scandinavian symbols. The country, year of issue, denomination, weight, and silver purity are inscribed along the edge.
