The largest and most impressive animals that have ever lived are now represented in a series of colored Austrian coins with a face value of 3 euros . The series brings prehistoric giants back to life in the form of 12 superb glow-in-the-dark coins, each dedicated to one of the prehistoric creatures that ruled the waves, roamed the earth, or dominated the sky.<\/p>\n
The fifth issue dedicated to the Tyrannosaurus Rex is the last issue of 2020. Tyrannosaurs lived at the end of the Cretaceous period (68-66 million years ago). Tyrannosaurus Rex was more than 4 m high and weighed up to 8 tons.<\/p>\n
The Tyrannosaurus Rex had the strongest bite of any creature that ever existed on Earth. He could crush a modern car in his jaw without damaging his teeth or skull.<\/p>\n
The Tyrannosaurus Rex had a hard skull like modern crocodiles, rather than a flexible one like reptiles and other dinosaurs. This allowed the Rex to bite its prey with a force equivalent to 7 tons.<\/p>\n
Modern saltwater crocodiles compress their prey by just 1.8 t \u2014 25% of the power of a Rex bite. At the same time, crested saltwater crocodiles have the most powerful bite of all existing animals today.<\/p>\n
All 12 3 Euro coins in the Supersaurs series are legal tender in Austria.<\/p>\n

The reverse shows a close-up color image of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, against a prehistoric landscape. Part of the reverse is selectively coated with a special paint that glows in the dark.
