Obverse: on the disk in the center – the denomination of the coin: “10 RUBLES”, inside the number “0” – hidden images of the number “10” and the inscription “RUB” visible alternately when the angle of view is changed, below – the trademark of the Mint; on the ring at the top there is an inscription: “BANK OF RUSSIA”, at the bottom – the year “2022”, on the left and right on the outer ring there are images of laurel and oak branches, respectively, the elements of which go to the disk.<\/p>\n

Reverse: relief image of the panorama of the city of Gorodets; at the top left – the coat of arms of the Gorodetsky district; on the ring around the circumference – relief inscriptions: at the top – “ANCIENT CITIES OF RUSSIA”, at the bottom – “GORODETS”.<\/p>\n

Gorodets is one of the oldest Russian cities, founded on the high bank of the Volga by Prince Yuri Vsevolodovich Dolgoruky in 1152 as a fortress city.<\/p>\n

The favorable location of Gorodets on the waterway contributed to the development of crafts and trade. In the 13th century, Gorodets was the capital of a specific principality; in the 14th century, together with Suzdal and Nizhny Novgorod, it became part of the Nizhny Novgorod principality.<\/p>\n

The history of Gorodets is connected with the name of the Russian commander Alexander Nevsky, who died in the fall of 1263 in the Fedorovsky Gorodets Monastery.<\/p>\n

From the end of the 19th century, the city developed on shipping and shipbuilding, the flour-grinding industry and the grain trade.<\/p>\n

Gorodets today is a unique center of folk crafts, which has preserved part of the artistic heritage of the Nizhny Novgorod region: Gorodets painting and printed gingerbread, gold embroidery and embroidery, pottery and wood carving.<\/p>\n

Merchants’ estates and mansions, historical monuments and numerous museums create a unique image of the ancient Volga city, which has the state status of a historical settlement of federal significance.<\/p>\n
