A set of coins from Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy.<\/p>\n
After Herbert Macaulay (1864\u20131946)<\/p>\n
already participated in the creation of the National Congress in 1920<\/p>\n
and founded Nigeria’s first political party, the NNDP.<\/p>\n
Three years later he became an important figure in the movement<\/p>\n
for the independence of the then British colony<\/p>\n
in the last years of his life.<\/p>\n
He is now considered the founder of Nigerian nationalism<\/p>\n
and immortalized, among other things, in this set of coins.<\/p>\n
In addition to the portrait of Macaulay,<\/p>\n
oil rigs are depicted on the reverses of the coins,<\/p>\n
palm trees, corn cobs and<\/p>\n
complex of buildings of the National Assembly of Nigeria.<\/p>\n
