Lemurs are primates that live on the African island of Madagascar. Social animals, they live in groups of about 20-30 individuals, guided by a matriarchal system. In the wild, they typically live 15 to 20 years and have a high reproductive rate. Its natural enemies, in addition to humans, are some predators, large reptiles, and animals introduced by man, such as civets or cats. The vast island of Madagascar, the fourth largest on the planet, suffers from constant loss of natural habitat due to human activity or the ravages of fires, and wildlife is confined to the most inaccessible parts of the island. As a result, 95% of lemur species are endangered, such as the ring-tailed lemur, which is also hunted for meat or captured for sale as a pet due to its beauty, intelligence, and ability to manipulate objects.<\/p>\n
