The city is one of the most famous Mediterranean tourist destinations, with almost 1.5 million visitors every year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After joining the European Union in 2013, Croatia considered the introduction of the euro.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, on June 1, 2022, the European Commission approved the entry of Croatia into the eurozone, which was confirmed on June 24, 2022 at the EU summit in Brussels.<\/p>\n<p>The new currency came into effect on January 1, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The ratio between the euro and the Croatian kuna is 7.5345 kunas per 1 euro.<\/p>\n<p>The 2 euro coin depicts a map of Croatia and words about freedom from Ivan Gunduli\u0107&#8217;s famous work Dubravka. The 1 euro coin depicts a marten on the background of a chessboard. Nikola Tesla is depicted on the 50, 20 and 10 cent coins.
