The 2024 Summer Olympics, which will take place in Paris, is an opportunity for the Monnaie de Paris to celebrate this major international competition with a series dedicated to sport, its values, athletes, and the heritage of the host country.<\/p>\n
2023 is the third year of quadrology, in which sport and its values are celebrated through the Monnaie de Paris coin and medallion collections. After Marianne (2021) and Genie (2022), in 2023 the Sower (La Semeuse) is depicted on the coin. The symbol was created in 1887 and has become an important symbol of the Republic.<\/p>\n
The woman walks with a determined gait, her hair and dress fluttering in the wind, she wears a Phrygian hat, she sows the field, and the sun rises behind her. An element of sport has been added to the design – boxing gloves.<\/p>\n
These seeds, which she generously sows, are countless ideas that may one day germinate and grow when we are no longer here.<\/p>\n
In the background is the Pont Neuf, the oldest surviving Parisian bridge across the Seine, and the athletics track.<\/p>\n
The coin is presented in a capsule and a box. The circulation is limited to 10,000 pieces in the PROOF version and 250,000 pieces in the Brilliant Uncirculated version (50,000 sets of 5 colors). This 2 \u20ac coin will not be issued in rolls.<\/p>\n
