Euclid is considered the father of geometry. He lived in Alexandria during the reign of Ptolemy I (about 300 BC). His main work is the Elements, where he formulated the fundamental concepts and principles of geometry and, based on five axioms (for example, two points pass through only one straight line), connected the geometric knowledge of that time and presented them to the public in an understandable form. Over the centuries, his influence was so great that it was not until the 19th century that non-Euclidean geometry was formulated.
