Dante Alighieri (1265 – 1321) was an Italian poet, thinker, theologian, one of the founders of the literary Italian language, and political activist. Creator of the Comedy (later given the epithet “Divine”, introduced by Boccaccio). “The Divine Comedy” is one of the seminal works of Western literature. One of the West’s most famous and influential poets.
The reverse of the coin features a detailed image of Dante Alighieri from a painting by Italian artist Agnolo Bronzino. The obverse of the coin features a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and inscriptions: “SOLOMON ISLANDS” – issuing country, “150 DOLLARS” – denomination, “SILVER 999” – silver fineness and “2021” – year of issue.
