Colored Coin 3 Euro Austria 2025 – Mystical Creatures “Troll”

This coin is the first issue in the Vienna Mint’s new “Mythical Creatures” series. The series invites us into a world of legend and fantasy, where ancient creatures come to life on a modern coin.

The troll is one of the most recognizable characters in European folklore: a forest spirit who can be either a formidable guardian of bridges and roads or a cunning creature from fairy tales and myths. Its image is familiar to many from childhood and evokes associations with magic, adventure, and the mysteries of the forest.

The obverse of the coin depicts a troll emerging from beneath a stone bridge, surrounded by golden ornaments and a footprint with four fingers. The reverse features a key surrounded by sunbeams, stars, and decorative elements, enhancing the fairytale atmosphere.

One of the key features of the “Mythical Creatures” series is its colorful design and UV-illuminated effect. Under normal lighting, the coin is attractive and detailed, but under UV light, the details of the design begin to glow, creating the impression that the troll on the coin comes to life.
