Coloured Coin 3 Euro Austria 2026 – Mystical Creatures “Hippocampus”

The second coin from the “Mystical Creatures” series is dedicated to the legendary hippocampus – a mythical creature from ancient Greek and Roman legends, half horse, half fish.

This image was chosen deliberately, as it combines the mysticism and legends of the deep sea, creating an atmosphere of fairytale and adventure. In ancient legends, the hippocampus pulled the chariot of the sea god (Poseidon to the Greeks, Neptune to the Romans) and was considered a wild, turbulent, yet noble sea spirit.

The obverse depicts a colorful hippocampus with a shiny fish tail, surrounded by seaweed and coral. The reverse features a magical key framed by sunbeams and shining stars.

One of the key features of the “Mythical Creatures” series is its colorful design and UV-lit effect. Under normal lighting, the coin is attractive and detailed, but when illuminated with UV light, it literally comes to life: the colors sparkle and the details shine.
