Silver Coin 15 Euro Estonia 2026 – Forest Brothers

This silver coin is dedicated to the Forest Brothers—the men and women who, in the 1940s and 1950s, offered armed resistance to the Soviet occupation and kept alive hope for a free Estonia. The coin is part of a series commemorating the resistance and the fight for Estonia’s independence.

The obverse of the coin depicts forest brothers hiding at the edge of a forest. The vertical rhythm of the tree trunks symbolically divides the occupied land from the free world of the forest brothers. The light filtering through the trees represents the memory of a free Estonia and the hope for its restoration.

The composition on the coin’s reverse is built around the image of a forest. Tall tree trunks rise above the Estonian national coat of arms, creating a sense of dense forestry and linking the country’s official symbol to the history of the forest brothers. Below the coat of arms is the inscription “Eesti Vabariik” and the year of issue.

The coin’s design was developed by Estonian architect and designer Kaupo Kangro.
