The first commemorative coin of the Outstanding Personalities series is dedicated to the centenary of the birth of actor, comedian and circus performer Yuri Nikulin. Yuri Nikulin was a Soviet and Russian film actor, comedian and circus clown, and artistic director of the Moscow Circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard.
The obverse of the coin depicts a relief image of a portrait of Yuri Nikulin against the background of the inscription “CIRCUS”, below – an image of the artist’s autograph and the years of his life “1921” and “1997”. The reverse shows the State Emblem of the Russian Federation, the inscriptions “Russian Federation” and “Bank of Russia”, as well as the trademark of the Moscow Mint (on the right), the denomination of the coin and the year of issue.
