Dogs are generally considered “man’s best friend”. The domestication of the wolf dates back over 100,000 years, making the dog the oldest human pet. About 800 dog breeds are known today: the Chihuahua is one of the smallest recognized dog breeds, while the Great Dane, with a height of at least 80 cm at the withers, and the Irish Wolfhound, with a height of up to 95 cm, are among the largest dog breeds.
