Many countries choose a single animal, plant or bird as a national symbol, and Finland, whose connection with nature is especially close and organic, has seven such symbols. Finnish national symbols include fish, wood, and even insects. Every year, on the last weekend of August, Finland celebrates Finnish Nature Day. On the obverse side of the banknote is is Wolverine – a predatory mammal of the marten family, the only representative of the genus Gulo.
The zero-euro backside depicts the best-known European architecture and art objects: (left to right) Brandenburg Gate, Big Ben, Eiffel Tower, Colosseum, Sagrada Familia, Manneken Pis and Mona Lisa.
