1.5 euro Spain collection 2022 “Endangered species” + album

Climate change and its effects, as well as the loss of biodiversity, are accelerating the extinction or population decline of some living things. About a million species of animals and plants are now threatened with extinction, the United Nations warns and suggests raising public awareness of the importance of taking urgent action to prevent this list of endangered species from growing. The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species is the most comprehensive source of information on the global conservation status of animal, fungal and plant species. Assessing the risk of extinction of thousands of species is a powerful tool for informing and activating action for biodiversity conservation. This is important not only for the species themselves, but the conservation of wildlife has a positive effect on human life. For this reason, FNMT-RCM is releasing a collection of 16 colored coins dedicated to endangered animals included in the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species through a series of select animal coins that, for one reason or another, are of global importance because they are listed as being in critical condition (CR). The collection is presented in an album-box, which includes sixteen coins and leaflets with information about each of the animals in Spanish and English.

The coins of Spain were issued in a special design with enameling on the obverse, which ensures greater realism of the image.

The obverse of the Spanish 1.5 euro coin depicts an animal.

The reverse (common to all coins) depicts a floral ornament and animal tracks, the denomination and the inscription ANIMALES EN PELIGRO DE EXTINCIÓN (Endangered Animals).
