1 USA dollar 2024 Missouri – George Washington Carver

4.00

As part of the American Innovations series, a $1 commemorative coin has been released dedicated to George Washington Carver, an outstanding scientist, inventor, and agronomist whose contributions to agriculture and science changed the U.S. economy.

Carver played a key role in the development of alternative farming methods, helping farmers restore depleted soils through crop rotation and growing legumes such as peanuts and sweet potatoes. His research has led to the development of more than 300 peanut products and over 100 sweet potato products, including paper, paints and even biodegradable plastic.

The 2024 coin design reflects Carver’s scientific achievements. The centerpiece of the composition features peanut plants as a symbol of his agricultural innovations, as well as laboratory instruments highlighting his contributions to chemistry and biotechnology. Inscriptions include: “United States of America,” “$1,” and “George Washington Carver.”
