1 US Dollar 2025 Arkansas – US Navy Frigate
€5.00
As part of the American Innovation series, the United States will issue $1 commemorative coins in January 2025 dedicated to the outstanding engineer Ray Jean Montague and the state of Arkansas. These coins pay tribute to her contributions to shipbuilding and computer-aided design.
Ray Montague made history as the first woman to create a complete design for a US Navy ship using a computer, revolutionizing naval engineering. Her work had a significant impact on the development of computer-aided design of ships and accelerated the process of their creation.
The reverse of the coin features a portrait of Raye Jean Montague, located on the right side. Next to it is a US Navy frigate named after the American naval commander Oliver Hazard Perry, who became famous during the Anglo-American War of 1812–1815. The lower part of the reverse is decorated with a grid reminiscent of computer-generated engineering drawings, symbolizing Montagu’s contribution to the development of digital shipbuilding.
This commemorative coin not only honors the achievements of Rae Jean Montague, but also highlights the role of women and innovative technology in the history of American engineering.
