The Ankara cat is one of the oldest cat breeds in the world, originating in the area around the city of Ankara (formerly called Angora) in central Turkey. It was in honor of this city that the cat got its name. In Turkey, there is a belief that the white Angora cat with different eyes is a special animal associated with the country’s history and even with the founder of modern Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
