€4.00
On July 16, 1969, the world watched as a Saturn V rocket launched the Apollo 11 mission to the Moon, allowing American astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to become the first people to set foot on its surface. This historic moment captured the hearts and minds of people around the world and became a major victory in the space race between the United States and the Soviet Union. Built at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, the Saturn V rocket completed all six Apollo lunar landings without losing any crew members or cargo. A total of 15 Saturn V rockets were built, all in Huntsville, with 13 successfully launched and two remaining on display to the public at the Kennedy Space Center, named after the president who first promised to send America to the Moon.
