2.5 euro Belgium 2024 – Bee

15.00 includes 24% VAT

Bees are a social insect characterized by division of labor, collective care for their offspring, and the ability to survive adverse periods through colony thermoregulation and stockpiling.
There are about 400 species of bees in Belgium. In addition to producing honey, bees are particularly important pollinators. Without their active contribution, food security would be at risk. Without bees there would be no coffee, nuts, vegetables, fruits or cotton.
The coin features a bee and a stylized cherry blossom, followed by a honeycomb map of Belgium. The map becomes more or less visible from different angles.
