Jan van Eyck is a Dutch innovative artist, diplomat, portrait master, author of more than a hundred paintings on religious subjects. The coin is dedicated to the 630th anniversary of the artist’s birth. He is considered one of the best painters in Northern Europe in the 15th century. Together with his brothers and Robert Campin, they became figures of the transition from international Gothic to the so-called Flemish school.
