Jan van Eyck is a Dutch artist-innovator , diplomat, master of portraits, author of more than a hundred paintings on religious subjects. The coin is dedicated to the 630th anniversary of the artist’s birth. Considered one of the best artists in Northern Europe in the 15th century. Together with their brothers and Robert Campen, they became figures in the transition from international Gothic to the so-called Flemish school.
