2 Euro 2020. Germany. 50th anniversary of kneeling in Warsaw
€4.50
The coin is dedicated to the gesture of submission and repentance on the part of West German Chancellor Willy Brandt, who on December 7, 1970, during a visit to the Polish People’s Republic, visited the monument to the victims of the unsuccessful uprising in the Warsaw ghetto (April 19th – May 16th, 1943). After laying the wreath, Brandt, very suddenly and spontaneously, knelt down. He remained in this position for some time in silence, surrounded by a large group of officials and photographers.
