Raphael Santi (26 or 28 March, or 6 April 1483, Urbino — 6 April 1520, Rome) was an Italian painter, graphic artist, and architect of the Umbrian, and later Roman, school. One of the brightest representatives of the art of the High Renaissance, or Roman classicism of the early XVI century. During his short life, he became one of the most famous and rich artists in Italy. In his works, Raphael embodied the idea of the lofty ideals of Renaissance humanism.
