This is the sixth coin in a series of prehistoric temples in Malta.
Temples of Tarshyen (Tarxien) are a complex of megalithic structures built between 3600 and 2500 BC. These structures were first discovered in 1913, and extensive excavations were carried out between 1915 and 1919. This temple has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The obverse depicts the archaeological complex itself. The reverse of the coin features the standard 2 euro side.
