On October 3, 1990, 328 days after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Germans in East and West celebrated German Unity Day. The coin is dedicated to this truly historic event, which finally overcame the division of the two German states.

The coin contains an inscription in large letters: “WIR SIND EIN VOLK – 35 JAHRE DEUTSCHE EINHEIT”, which translates as “We are one people. 35 years of German unity”. The inscription is located in several lines, creating a sense of monumentality and severity.
