On February 3, 1871, Rome became the capital of the Kingdom of Italy.
In the center of the coin is a fragment of the sculpture of the goddess Roma (Dea Roma), located in the middle of the altar of the Fatherland (Altare della Patria), a sculpture of Angelo Zanelli, dedicated to the Italian nation.
At the top is the letter “ROMA CAPITALE”, which translates as “Rome – the capital”. Then the years are depicted – “1871-2021” (the year the capital was founded and the year the coin was issued).
The initials “UP” belong to the design author Uliana Pernazza.
