2 euro Luxembourg 2018 – 150th anniversary of the Constitution (Bridge mintmark)
€25.00
The Constitution of Luxembourg was adopted on October 17, 1868. In Luxembourg, the Constitution is considered the highest legal norm of the state. The written constitution is considered to be “evolutionary” in nature and has continued to evolve alongside historical and political events in Luxembourg over the past 200 years, rather than serving as a normative force. Thus, the 1868 Constitution is the current constitution and has been amended several times since its adoption, most recently in 2019.
The coin is noteworthy in that it has the marks of the Dutch mint on either side of the year of issue: on the left is the bridge (mark of the engraver Stephan Satijn), on the right is the Caduceus.
