2 euro Malta 2014 – 50 years of independence (Royal Dutch Mint mintmark)
€25.00
The coin commemorating the 1964 Maltese Constitution is the fourth in a series of five coins commemorating constitutional milestones in Maltese history. Under the 1964 constitution, Malta became an independent state for the first time after hundreds of years of foreign domination. The coin depicts a detail from the bronze Independence Monument created by artist Gianni Bonnici in 1989. It shows a young woman representing Malta holding the Maltese flag.
The coin is notable for having the mark of the Royal Dutch Mint (on the rim between the fifth and sixth star).
