Galileo Galilei (February 15, 1564 – January 8, 1642) was a Tuscan (Italian) physicist, mathematician, astronomer and philosopher who played an important role in the Scientific Revolution. His achievements included improvements to the telescope and subsequent astronomical observations, as well as support for Copernicanism.
