2 euro San Marino 2024 – Declaration of the Rights of Citizens and Fundamental Principles of Government

The coin is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of the Rights of Citizens and the Basic Principles of Government of San Marino. The Declaration begins with the renunciation of war. The declaration states that the people are sovereign and explains how the doctrine of separation of powers applies to San Marino. Citizens are guaranteed certain rights, including equality, integrity, liberty and universal suffrage. The Declaration also contains regulatory issues on the protection of family, motherhood and childhood.
The coin features an open book with the inscription “Human Rights Are Sacred” surrounded by the Public Palace and the Statue of Liberty.
