2 euro Slovakia 2023 – 100th anniversary of the first blood transfusion in Slovakia Proof
€125.00 includes 22% VAT
The design is based on a balanced circular composition. In the center of the smallest circle is placed a cross with symbols of the blood group and a drop of blood in the center of the figure.
The first recorded successful blood transfusions were performed by the Incas as early as the 1500s. Only in 1901, when the Austrian Karl Landsteiner discovered the three human blood types (O, A, and B), did blood transfusion receive a scientific basis and become safer. British Red Cross Secretary Percy Oliver founded the world’s first blood donation service in 1921.
