Santiago de Compostela is the capital of the autonomous community of Galicia in Spain. The municipality is part of the district (comarca) of Santiago. The city arose around the Santiago Cathedral – the largest center of pilgrimage. In 1985, the old part of the city was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
