2 euro Belgium 2024 – Fight against cancer BU (FR version + NL version)
€22.00 includes 22% VAT
The coin commemorates the 100th anniversary of the fight against cancer in Belgium.
Under the patronage of Queen Elizabeth, the National Belgian League Against Cancer was founded in 1924, from which the Cancer Foundation emerged. One hundred years ago, the foundations were laid for the ongoing fight against cancer and patient support in Belgium, which has been continued by other organizations and movements over the years. The widespread media attention to cancer, as well as the many initiatives that have sprung up around it, provide significant support. In addition to the Cancer Foundation, more recent movements have played a fundamental role in providing funds for medical research and supporting patients. Through numerous campaigns, a renewed sense of purpose and a willingness to participate in everyday life have been restored.
This coin is also an expression of gratitude to all the professionals and volunteers who have dedicated themselves to providing medical and moral assistance to people over the years.
The coin features a stylized rainbow as a symbol of hope for a world free of cancer. In the center is an image of a heartbeat in the form of an awareness ribbon, often worn to show solidarity.
The card design consists of symbolic ribbons of different colors, indicating different types of oncology.
