An ideal gift or keepsake for Tolkien fans.
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien (1892-1973) – British writer, poet, translator, linguist and philologist. He is best known as the author of classic high fantasy works: The Hobbit, or There and Back Again, The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion.
Tolkien’s love of languages began as a child, and this passion, combined with an interest in Norse and Celtic mythology, later led him to invent the realm of Middle-earth and the mythology surrounding it. He even wrote poetry and created works of art inspired by this world, some of which were included in his most famous works, The Hobbit (1937) and The Lord of the Rings (1954–55), the latter of which brought Tolkien worldwide fame and is now considered an example of modern fantasy fiction. Tolkien died in 1973, and his life’s work that provided a comprehensive account of his Elven mythology, The Silmarillion, remained unpublished. Tolkien’s youngest son, Christopher, posthumously edited the work and it was eventually published in 1977.
