The coin consists of 3 components: an outer ring, a copper-nickel alloy inner disc and a blue light-conducting polymer ring. Edge inscription: BLAUER PLANET ERDE. Reverse: center – outlines of the Earth’s continents, on the outer ring – images of the planets of the solar system. The obverse of the coin depicts a German eagle, year of issue, denomination, country name and 12 stars of the European Union.

Each yard has its own shade of blue polymer ring.
