The coin consists of 3 components: an outer ring, an inner copper-nickel alloy disc and a green light-conducting polymer ring. The reverse depicts a hare sitting under an oak branch with falling leaves against the background of a cultivated field and wooded hills. The obverse of the coin depicts a German eagle, year of issue, denomination, country name and 12 stars of the European Union.
Each yard has its own shade of green polymer ring. However, there are strong differences in the color of the polymer ring. For example, in Stuttgart, they resorted to a milky white shade with almost imperceptible green tones, and in Karlsruhe they resorted to bright green.
