20.00 includes 24% VAT

Celebrating the heraldry and history of the Tudor period with a contemporary design, Royal Tudor Beasts is a new collection from the Royal Mint. Heraldic beasts are part of the history of the monarchy, a tradition of lineage and strength on the battlefield that goes back centuries. Inspired by this long tradition, the royal beasts stand guard over the moat at Hampton Court Palace, representing Henry VIII and the mighty Tudor dynasty.

The third coin in this series is dedicated to Yale of Beaufort.

Yale of Beaufort was depicted on the arms of John Lancaster, Duke of Bedford as a supporter, symbolizing bravery in battle. Yale is described as an antelope or goat-like creature with boar tusks and large horns. Its horns have the ability to turn in any direction for attack and defense purposes.

Obverse: Yale of Beaufort holding a heraldic shield in a defensive posture.
