Banknote 2000 leu Romania 1999

The banknote is dedicated to a rare astronomical phenomenon – the total solar eclipse of August 11, 1999. It symbolizes scientific progress and the cultural heritage of Romania.

The reverse of the banknote depicts a map of the country with the route of the eclipse marked, done in the colours of the national flag.

The obverse features a diagram of the solar system and an inscription dedicated to the eclipse, as well as the denomination “2000 Lei”.
