Coin set – Cape Verde
€20.00 includes 22% VAT
A set of coins from the first in the world
ten-sided bimetallic coin
Before the discovery of Cape Verde by Portuguese sailors
in 1456 no people lived on the islands.
Their original “inhabitants” are marked
with this complete set of Cape Verde Escudo coins.
Due to its isolated location
off the west coast of Africa, Cape Verde is
home to a number of endemic animal and plant species.
The obverses of the coins feature the national coat of arms and denominations.
The reverse depicts a sea turtle, an osprey,
gray-haired kingfisher, the so-called carqueja plant (an endemic species of seals),
macelina plant (endemic composite plant species)
and the endemic woody onion Saio.
The set includes the world’s first 10-sided bimetallic coin.
– A complete set from a paradise island in the Atlantic
– Unique animals and plants of Cape Verde
– Portuguese and Latin names
