Coin card Netherlands 2023 “Women in Space” – 1 euro regular issue + token

For many, flying into space is a lifelong dream. Only 656 people have gone into space. Less than 12% of them were women. Only 12 countries around the world have women represented in space. Less than 24% of aerospace employees are women. Cosmic Girls™ aims to increase these numbers with the Women in Space coin and its inspiring program for girls around the world. This coin is important because it recognizes a turning point in creating a more equitable space for all.
The unique space-themed coin card consists of the Women in Space medal and a Dutch 1 euro coin.
The most distinctive feature of the Women in Space coin is its “gravity-defying hair.” While every woman may not necessarily be recognized in this way, the symbolism of free flowing hair is nonetheless significant. On the front of the card, a female astronaut proudly holds her helmet as she fulfills her lifelong dream of becoming an astronaut. A line drawing of a female astronaut is also visible on the left.
On the obverse of the medal, the earth is depicted in the middle. Other planets of the solar system are visible around it. The reverse of the medal depicts an astronaut surrounded by a rocket and constellations.
