The War of 1812 was a fundamental turning point in Canada’s development as a nation; stories and the characters that emerged from them have become enduring elements of Canadian history.

The War of 1812 (June 18, 1812 – February 17, 1815) was fought by the United States of America and its indigenous allies against the United Kingdom and its own indigenous allies in British North America.
Tensions originated in long-standing differences over territorial expansion in North America and British support for Native American tribes who opposed U.S. colonial settlement in the Northwest Territory.
The coins are dedicated to Canadian war heroes: Shawnee leader Tecumseh, Major-General Sir Isaac Brock, Lieutenant Colonel Charles de Salaberry, Laura Secord.
