Full set of continental
Caribbean with rare coin shapes
After Christopher Columbus discovered
the first American Isles in 1492,
he finally saw what is now called Belize,
on his fourth voyage in 1502
and set foot on the mainland of the New World for the first time.
However, Belize became a British colony in 1862,
so today it’s the only one
English-speaking country in Central America.
Three Spanish ships “Santa Maira”,
“Nina” and “Pinta” of the first expedition of Columbus
depicted on the reverse of the ten-sided $1 coin
from this complete set of coins from Belize.
Other reverses feature ornaments and denominations.
All obverses feature a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
– Discovery of the New World
