Complete Coin Set: History of the Dominican Republic

After the victorious war of independence

against the Spaniards sovereignty of the Dominican Republic

was far from achieved.

First, it was united with Haiti in 1822,

and behind the struggle for independence from Haiti in 1844

followed by a new colonization of Spain 17 years later.

Spanish rule finally ended

in 1865 with the Restoration War.

Many heroes came out of various wars,

some of which are noted in this

full set of Dominican peso coins:

Juan Pablo Duarte, Francisco del Rosario Sanchez,

Matthias Ramon Mella and Gregorio Luperon.

While their portraits are depicted on the reverses,

the obverses feature the national coat of arms and denominations.

– Wars of Independence in Hispaniola

– National Heroes of the Dominican Republic

– With two bimetallic coins
