Due to its location in the Caucasus, Georgia has been shaped by many different cultures, including the ancient Greeks and Romans, various Persian dynasties, and the Russian Empire. This complete set of Georgian Lari coins celebrates the country’s unique heritage, from ancient artifacts to contemporary art. The obverse depicts Borjgali (the Georgian symbol of the sun) with the Tree of Life or the national emblem. The reverse depicts denominations, a vine relief and a peacock figure from the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in Mtskheta, a lion statue from the 3rd millennium BC, Saint Mammius of Caesarea riding a lion from an 11th century silver plate, and a deer from a painting by artist Niko Pirosmani.
